Tigers win 15th straight home contest in win over Sewanee

February 16, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - Five Tigers scored in double figures as DePauw improved to 20-4 overall and 11-2 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference following a 94-82 win over Sewanee. Sewanee dropped to 6-17 overall and 5-8 in the conference.

The teams battled through a tight first half and Sewanee held a 30-29 lead with just over six minutes left before DePauw's Mike Moore hit a pair of threes which started a 21-6 run over the final 5:29 as the Tigers went to the break with a 51-35 lead. The hosts extended the lead to as many as 22 in the second half and Sewanee got no closer than the final 12-point margin.

DePauw's Austin Brown led all scorers with 20, while Moore added a double-double of 18 points and 10 assists. Reid Sakel and Matt McDonald each scored 16 points and Stephen Schott added 13. Schott's bucket early in the second half made him the 22nd player in school history to top the 1,000-point plateau. McDonald grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

Joey Garcia and Casey Berry each scored 14 for Sewanee, while Gary Grizzle added 12 and Ben Pursell followed with 10 points and a game-high nine rebounds.

The Tigers shot 56.4 percent from the floor and knocked down 13-of-22 three-pointers including 10-of-18 in the first half. Moore and Sakel each hit five. Sewanee shot 43.5 percent from the floor and held a 36-30 edge on the boards.

DePauw hosts Oglethorpe on Sunday at noon, while Sewanee travels to Centre for a 1 p.m. contest.
