January 20, 2007, St. Louis, Mo. - Eighth-ranked DePauw totaled 649 points and finished third at the Washington University Invitational. Missouri-Rolla won with 957 points and Washington was second with 957.
Picking up individual wins for the Tigers were Rob Alexander in the 100-yard freestyle in 47.52 seconds and John Cook in the 200 free in 1:46.06. Alexander also finished second in the 50 free in 21.80 seconds and third in the 100 butterfly in 52.48. Cook also finished fourth in the 100 free in 48.38 and sixth in the 50 free in 22.11 seconds.
Gib Wallace placed third in the 100 back in 55.88 seconds and was sixth in both the 200 individual medley (2:03.90) and the 200 backstroke (2:02.99). Brock Sishc was fourth in the 200 IM in 2:03.47 and sixth in the 400 IM in 4:20.96.
The 200 medley relay of Michael Young, Dan DeGeus, Alexander and Greg Nowak finished second in 1:39.52 as did the 200 free relay of Cook, Kyle Kerrigan, Nowak and Alexander in 1:26.53. The Tigers' 800 free relay of Alexander, Nowak, Charlie Boehme and Cook was third in 7:21.21, as was the 400 free relay of Cook, Steve Klabak, Nowak and Alexander in 3:13.26.
DePauw returns to action on Wednesday at Rose-Hulman.
