January 20, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - Austin Brown paced DePauw with 13 points and Mike Moore added 12 as the Tigers defeated visiting Southwestern by a 59-51 count. DePauw improved to 15-3 overall and 6-1 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference with its sixth straight win, while the Pirates dropped to 8-9 overall and 3-4 in the conference.
Southwestern held a 17-14 first half lead before Moore knotted the game with a three-pointer with 3:40 left in the half. Reid Sakel hit two free throws and Brian Oilar added a layup with eight seconds left to cap a 7-0 run and give DePauw a 21-17 halftime advantage.
The Tigers stretched that lead to as many as 12 with the last coming at 45-33. Matt Caplan hit two free throws and a three-pointer and Goran Stojcic added a layup with 5:44 left to close the gap to 45-40.
The Pirates were within four at 49-45 after Stojcic's three with 3:57 left, but Tony James hit two free throws and Brown added a bucket to push the margin back to eight at 53-45. DePauw closed the game by hitting all six of its free throws in the final three minutes.
Caplan led Southwestern with 13 points, while Casey Groder added 10 and a team-high six rebounds. Stephen Schott paced DePauw with eight rebounds as the Tigers held a 35-29 advantage on the boards.
DePauw travels to Rhodes on Friday, while Southwestern hosts Oglethorpe on Friday.
