September 22, 2006, Sewanee, Tenn. - The Tigers opened Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with a 4-1 victory at Sewanee and improved to 3-2 overall.
DePauw jumped out to an early lead on Becca Gaines' goal before Meredith Ellis made it 2-0 on an assist from Beth Seegers.
Sewanee cut the lead in half on Marcy Tickner's goal from a Claiborne Bucingham assist late in the first half.
The Tigers put the contest away in the second half as Catherine Joliat and Gaines each scored unassisted goals.
DePauw outshot Sewanee 23-15, while Sewanee held a 6-5 edge in corners. Kaitlin Thomure recorded six saves for DePauw, while Sewanee's Clarkie Crawford had seven.
The Tigers travel to Rhodes on Sunday.
