Box Score 2 April 8, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw opened Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with a doubleheader sweep of Rose-Hulman. The Tigers won the first game by a 9-1 score in five innings and took the nightcap, 7-3. DePauw improved to 16-7 overall and 2-0 in the SCAC, while the Engineers dropped to 7-19 overall and 0-6 in the conference.
DePauw jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first game with two in the first and three in the third. The Engineers scored their lone run in the fourth and the Tigers added four in the bottom of the fourth.
The Tigers finished with seven hits led by Carolyn Bartlett and Rachel Gill with two each. Bartlett drove in four with a pair of triples. Amy Viles led Rose-Hulman with two of its five hits.
Lauren Curosh improved to 9-6 by allowing just five hits over five innings, while Nicole Sanders dropped to 0-3 with the loss.
In game two, DePauw scored four in the first and never trailed. The Engineer scored all three of their runs in the second, but the Tigers added one in the second and two in the fifth.
DePauw totaled 12 hits led by two each from Kristy Mahon, Jessica Krueger and Gill. Jennifer Pint and Erin Locke each finished with two of the Engineers' eight hits.
Curosh improved to 10-6 by allowing three unearned runs in four innings and Katherine Veatch picked up her first save after pitching three scoreless innings of relief. Viles dropped to 0-4 with the loss.
The teams conclude their four-game series at DePauw with a noon doubleheader on Sunday.
