Box Score 2 April 22, 2006, Danville, Ky. - DePauw swept its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader at Centre by scores of 9-6 and 10-2 to improve to a school-record 26 wins against just seven losses. The old mark of 25 victories was set in 2000.
The Tigers remained unbeaten in the SCAC at 10-0, while Centre dropped to 19-14 overall and 8-2 in the conference.
In the first game, the Tigers scored three in the first and two in the second and never trailed the rest of the way. DePauw totaled 12 hits with Kristy Mahon, Jessica Krueger, Rachel Gill, Ashley Sewell and Chelsy Patterson each collecting a pair. Gill homered twice for the Tigers and drove in three runs, while Patterson also homered in the win.
Sharon Ball and Macy Dykema each collected two of the Colonels' 10 hits while Ball and Laura Hufnagle homered.
Lauren Curosh improved to 16-6, while Cici Besl suffered the loss and dropped to 9-7.
In the nightcap, the Tigers jumped out to an 8-0 lead on the way to the win and totaled 16 hits. Mahon led the Tigers with three followed by Krueger, Carolyn Bartlettt, Jessica Bowlds and Patterson with two each. Nicole Kernan homered in the win. Ball led Centre with two of their five hits.
Katherine Veatch improved to 10-1 with the win after striking out 10, while Julia Hubbard dropped to 10-7.
With a win on Sunday, the Tigers can clinch the SCAC East title and the division's number one seed in next week's conference tournament.
