Box Score 2 April 14, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw improved to 20-7 overall and 6-0 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference following a doubleheader sweep of visiting Sewanee. DePauw won the first game, 9-0, and took the nightcap by a 16-0 count. Sewanee dropped to 4-12 overall and 0-6 in the SCAC.
In the opener the Tigers scored three in the first, five in the second and one in the third for the win. Lauren Curosh improved to 13-6 after pitching the one-hit, five inning complete game. Curosh retired the first 10 batters and allowed just one Sewanee batter to reach base. Grace Kennedy dropped to 2-9 with the loss.
DePauw banged out nine hits with Lauren Rees, Jessica Krueger and Carolyn Bartlett each recording a pair. Bartlett drove in three in the win. Catherine Outten had Sewanee's lone hit.
In the nightcap, the Tigers scored eight in the first, one in the second, five in the third and two in the fourth. Katherine Veatch improved to 7-1 after pitching the final three innings and recording four strikeouts. Curosh allowed just one hit and struck out two in two innings as the starter. Kennedy dropped to 2-10 with the loss.
DePauw finished with a season-high 20 hits as 11 different players had one each. Krueger, Rachel Gill, Ashley Sewell and Chelsy Patterson each collected three and Laura Schlensker added two.
Sewell's second-inning single was the 114th of her DePauw career and broke the Tigers' career mark of 113 set by Michelle Adcock (1997-2000). Sewell added three RBI in the twinbill to lift her career total to 73 which is one shy of tying the DePauw career mark of 74 held by Keri Shake (1999-02).
DePauw and Sewanee square off in a noon doubleheader on Saturday.
