March 26, 2006, Fort Myers, Fla. - The DePauw softball team began its 10-game spring trip at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic with a 7-1 win over MIT and a 7-6 loss to Gustavus Adolphus in nine innings.

In the MIT win, the Tigers collected 10 hits led by Kristy Mahon with three and Nicole Kernan with two including a home run. DePauw scored five in the third and two in the sixth to claim the victory. Lauren Curosh picked up the win and improved to 6-3.

The Tigers held a 4-3 lead against Gustavus Adolphus before the Gusties forced extra innings with one in the bottom of the sixth. DePauw took a 6-4 lead in the eighth, but Gustavus Adolphus knotted the score in the bottom half of the inning and won the game in the bottom of the ninth.

Mahon led the Tgiers with two hits, while Kernan added a homer. Curosh dropped to 6-4 with the loss in relief.
