January 22, 2006, Atlanta, Ga. - DePauw's men's basketball team improved to 7-10 overall and 3-4 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference with a 92-77 victory at Oglethorpe. The Stormy Petrels dropped to 9-8 overall and 3-4 in the conference.
DePauw used an 8-0 run late in the first half to extend a three-point lead to 11 at 38-27 on the way to a 50-44 lead at the intermission. Oglethorpe closed to within five at 72-67 before the Tigers outscored the Stormy Petrels 20-10 over the final seven minutes.
Austin Brown paced six double-figure DePauw scorers with 20 points, while Stephen Schott added 14.  Ryan Werntz matched a career best with 13, while Mike Moore also scored 13. Reid Sakel added 12 and Alex Stewart finished with 10. Eric Dickinson led Oglethorpe with 25 and Andrew Tulowitsky added 15.
The Tigers held a 42-20 advantage on the boards with Schott and Matt McDonald each grabbing eight. Ahmed Kareem Shaeed led Oglethorpe with nine. Moore paced the Tigers with eight assists. Dickinson dished out six assists for the Stormy Petrels.
DePauw shot 53 percent from the floor including 57 percent in the first half, while Oglethorpe connected on 44 percent for the contest.
The Tigers host Southwestern on Friday, January 27, at 8 p.m.
