Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

April 3, 2005, Greencastle, Ind. - The Tigers won the first game of their Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader with Centre by a 5-3 score, but couldn't protect a lead in the nightcap and lost, 3-1 in nine innings. The Tigers are 14-9-1 overall and 1-3 in the SCAC, while Centre is now 12-4 overall and 3-1 in the conference.

DePauw banged out nine hits in the first game with Kristy Mahon leading the way with three and Lauren Curosh allowed just six hits in seven innings in improving to 8-4. The Tigers took advantage of a Centre error in the first to take a 1-0 lead. The Colonels scored a pair in the second on back-to-back RBI doubles by Lindsey Willett and Maggie Blackburn.

The Tigers regained the lead in the bottom of the second as Nicole Kernan drove in two with a bases loaded single. Centre tied the game at 3-3 in the fifth on Kate Guthrie's RBI groundout, but DePauw regained the lead for good in the bottom half of the inning when Whitney Sewell singled home Hillary Enyart. The Tigers added their final run in the sixth on Caroline Provan's RBI single. Erin Grumley suffered the loss for Centre and dropped to 5-3.

In game two, the teams battled through five scoreless innings before the Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the sixth. Jessica Bowlds and Enyart led off the inning with singles and moved up a base on Curosh's sacrifice bunt. Mahon was intentionally walked and Bowlds scored on Kernan's single.

Centre sent the game to extra innings with one in the seventh as Monica Vonderbrink and Macy Dykema each singled and moved up on a bunt. The Tigers then recorded an out at the plate on a fielder's choice, but a throwing error allowed Vonderbrink to score.

The Colonels won the game in the ninth when Willett and Marjorie Pilkinton each came through with RBI singles.

Kernan and Bowlds each had two hits for the Tigers who finished with eight. Centre totaled 13 hits led by Guthrie with three and Pilkinton and Dykema with two each. Grumley recorded the win in relief to improve to 6-3, while Curosh suffered the loss in relief to fall to 8-5.

The Tigers travel to Franklin on Wednesday for a 3 p.m. doubleheader.
