Box Score 2 April 2, 2005, Greencastle, Ind. - The Tigers dropped to 13-8-1 overall and 0-2 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference following a doubleheader loss to visiting Centre. The Colonels won the first game by a 2-0 score in eight innings and then took the nightcap by a 4-1 count.
In the first game, the teams battled through seven scoreless innings before Centre scored two unearned runs in the eighth. Erin Grumley improved to 5-2 with the win, while Lauren Curosh dropped to 7-4. Kate Guthrie and Maggie Blackburn each had three hits for all of Centre's six. Jessica Bowlds finished with two of DePauw's four hits.
In the second game Centre scored one each in the first two innings as Marjorie Pilkinton drove in one with a double in the first and Guthrie plated one in the second with a single.
In the fifth, DePauw cut the lead in half as Jessica Krueger drew a bases loaded walk, but the Tigers left the base full. The Colonels put the game away with two in the seventh on Guthrie's run-scoring double and Brittany Gowers' RBI groundout.
Cici Besl picked up the win in relief to improved to 2-0 and Grumley notched a save. Hillary Enyart fell to 5-3 with the loss. Guthrie again had three hits with Willett and Blackburn each adding two. Kristy Mahon had two of DePauw's three hits.
The two teams conclude their series on Sunday with a noon doubleheader.
