April 16, 2005, Anderson, Ind. - DePauw dropped to 19-16-1 on the season after dropping two games at the Anderson Tournament. The Tigers lost to Goshen in the first game by a 10-0 score in five innings and dropped a 5-3 decision to Adrian in the second game.
Seven of the first eight Goshen batters scored in the first inning and they added three more in the third for the 10-0 final. The Tigers managed just two hits on a single by Kristy Mahon and Laura Schlensker's double. Goshen totaled 14 in the contest led by Erin Layman with three and two each from Stacie Scott, Tara Haynes, Erica Weaver and Rachel Solmos. Sarah Flick dropped to 1-2 with the loss, while Solmos picked up the win for the Maple Leafs.
In the Adrian contest, DePauw fell behind 3-0 in the first on a two-run single by Jessica VanTroostenberghe and a run-scoring base hit from Katie Kilimas. The Tigers knotted the score in the bottom of the inning on RBI singles by Jessica Krueger and Caroline Provan and a double off the bat of Jessica Bowlds.
The Bulldogs took a 4-3 lead in the fifth when Kilimas singled and scored on Becky Hayden's double. They added an unearned run in the seventh. The Tigers left two runners on in each of the final two innings.
DePauw totaled 11 hits led by Krueger, Bowlds and Carli Worthman with two each. Adrian finished with 11 hits led by Kilimas with three and Lindsay Tomasak and Jenna Nunamaker with two each. Hillary Enyart suffered the loss and fell to 5-6 on the season, while VanTroostenberghe picked up the win.
The Tigers will await word on Sunday if they earn a spot into the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament. If Centre wins one or both games from Sewanee in their doubleheader, DePauw will be in the six-team tournament field.
