Box Score 2 March 16, 2005, Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw dropped to 4-4 on the season after dropping both ends of a doubleheader with visiting St. Mary-of-the-Woods. DePauw lost the first game by a 12-2 score in five innings and then the nightcap by an 8-1 count. The guests improved to 19-13-1 with the sweep.
The Pomeroys scored one in the first, four in the second and six in the third to jump out to an 11-0 lead. Ten of those 11 runs were unearned as the Tigers committed four errors in the first three innings. The Tigers picked up one in the third when Carli Worthman tripled and Lauren Curosh drove her in with a groundout. They added one in the fourth after Caroline Provan singled and scored on Ashley Sewell's double.
DePauw totaled just three hits in the first game against Alisha Mosier, while St. Mary-of-the-Woods finished with 11 led by Allison Tomey with three and Jennifer Phegley and Katie Iocoangeli with two each. Iocoangeli drove in four including three with a homer, while Tomey finished with three RBI. Curosh suffered her first defeat of the season in four decisions.
In the second game, the Pomeroys scored four in the third and one in the fourth to take a 5-0 lead. The Tigers cut into the lead in the bottom of the fourth when Ashley Sewell led off with a double, moved to third on Whitney Sewell's groundout and scored on a wild pitch. St. Mary-of-the-Woods added three more in the fifth.
Kristy Mahon delivered two of the Tigers' four hits, while Iocoangeli and Barb Cekander each had two for the Pomeroys. Cekander drove in two in the win.
Jocelyn Long picked up the win for the Pomeroys, while Sarah Flick suffered the loss for the Tigers.
DePauw returns to action on Saturday when it faces Hendrix in a doubleheader at Rhodes.
