Tiger men capture second straight DePauw Invitational title

RESULTS

December 3, 2005, Greencastle, Ind. - The DePauw men totaled 712 points and captured their second consecutive DePauw Invitational title. Wittenberg was second with 552 points and Transylvania placed third with 528. Complete results are available here.

 

Robert Alexander paced the Tigers with three individual firsts and was the meet's top scorer with 60 points. He won the 100-yard freestyle in 47.78 seconds, the 50 free in 21.62 and the 100 butterfly in 52.25.

 

Brock Sishc was a double winner with firsts in the 400 individual medley in 4:14.07 and the 1650 free in 17:07.66. He also placed second in the 200 back in 1:58.01.

 

Gregg Nowak placed second in the 100 free in 48.77 seconds and in the 200 free in 1:49.83 and was third in the 50 free in 22.34 seconds.

 

Kiel Beehler was third in the 400 individual medley in 4:31.62 and eighth in the 200 back in 2:11.07, while Dan Vidican placed fourth in the 100 back in 56.63 seconds and sixth in the 200 back in 2:05.93.

 

Gib Wallace finished fifth in the 200 breaststroke in 2:20.05, seventh in the 200 individual medley in 2:05.27 and eighth in the 100 breaststroke in 1:04.05, while Michael Young was a fifth-place finisher in the 100 breast in 1:02.81 as was Matt Fosheim in the 400 individual medley in 4:32.95.

 

Zach Marquand placed sixth in the 100 back in 56.83 seconds and seventh in both the 200 back in 2:07.33 and 1650 free in 18:10.75 and Nick Hedge placed sixth in the 200 free in 1:52.66 and was eighth in the 1650 free in 18:19.91.

 

Joe Fox placed seventh in the 100 butterfly in 54.50 seconds and was eighth in the 200 butterfly in 2:08.84 and in the 100 back in 58.49. Matt Hinman finished seventh in the 400 individual medley in 4:41.93 and in the 200 breast in 2:22.41.

 

The 200 free relay of Landon Boehm, Matt Krein, Nowak and Alexander won in 1:27.14 as did the 400 medley relay of Vidican, Young, Alexander and Nowak in 3:38.57.

 

The 200 medley relay of Vidican, Young, Alexander and Nowak was second in 1:40.44, while the 400 free relay of Nowak, Beehler, Alexander and Krein was third in 3:18.18. DePauw's 800 free relay of Gib Wallace, Hedge, Marquand and Sishc placed fourth in 7:30.88.
