November 5, 2005, Greencastle, Ind. - Centre and DePauw each won their Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference semifinal games to advance to Sunday's 2 p.m. conference championship.
Centre and top-seed Rhodes battled through a scoreless regulation and two overtimes before going to penalty strokes. In the first round of five strokes, Centre's Sara DeSanctis scored, but Rhodes' O'Brien Wolff forced a second round by scoring. In the second round, DeSanctis scored for the Colonels and Wolff again scored on the Lynx's final stoke to force sudden death. DeSanctis then scored the game-winner for Centre.
Rhodes outshot Centre 11-10 and each team had 12 penalty strokes. Ann Guagliardo recorded 11 saves for Centre and Alice Cowley had 10 for Rhodes.
DePauw advanced to Sunday's finals following a 1-0 victory over Sewanee. Emily Yates scored the game-winner with an assist from Meredith Ellis with 14:48 remaining in the second half.
DePauw outshot Sewanee 9-3 and held a 9-7 advantage in corners. Kaitlin Thomure recorded three saves for DePauw with Blake Rosen had eight for Sewanee.
Sunday's third-place game between Rhodes and Sewanee begins at noon and the title contest with DePauw and Centre is slated to start at 2 p.m.
