Tigers keep pace in SCAC race with 2-1 win over Sewanee

October 28, 2005, Greencastle, Ind. - The DePauw women scored two second-half goals and held on for a 2-1 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over visiting Sewanee.

 

The Tigers improved to 8-6 overall and 5-1 in the SCAC, while Sewanee dropped to 10-3-1 overall and 4-2 in conference play.

 

Sewanee took a 1-0 lead on Krystn Hodge's unassisted goal at 38:27 before DePauw knotted the score on a penalty kick by Emily Petrus at 48:00. Kates St. Germain scored the game-winner on a header with an assist from Jacki Ponder.

 

DePauw outshot Sewanee 7-6 with Sewanee holding a 5-1 advantage in corners. Brooke Shipley recorded five saves for DePauw, while Taylor Steedman had five for Sewanee.

 

The Tigers host Centre on Sunday at noon in the final regular season home game.
