DePauw defeats Sewanee, 4-2

October 28, 2005, Greencastle, Ind. - The host Tigers scored twice in the second half to break a 2-2 halftime tie on the way to a 4-2 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over Sewanee.

 

DePauw improved to 9-4-1 overall and 4-2 in the SCAC, while Sewanee dropped to 9-6 overall and 3-3 in the SCAC.

 

Sewanee took the early lead on Alex Marsden's unassisted goal at 16:22 before DePauw tied the game on Nick Noel's header off of a corner from Craig Lippincott.

 

The visiting Tigers regained the lead at 34:08 on Robbie Wynne's unassisted goal, but DePauw countered with a goal from John Cross which was assisted by Lippincott. The assist was Lippincott's 11th on the season breaking the DePauw single-season mark of 10 by Richie Schreiner in 2000.

 

 

Lippincott delivered the eventual game-winner on a penalty kick at 53:38 before Jacob Dodds closed out the scoring at 76:29 with an assist from Scott Noel.

 

DePauw outshot Sewanee 15-5 and held an 11-2 advantage in corners. John Fenley recorded three saves in goal for DePauw, while Sewanee's Tyler Blackwell had five.

 

The Tigers host Centre on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the final home game of the regular season.
