Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw, ranked third in Division III, opened the season with a 4-1 win over Hope College at Boswell Field. Washington (Mo.) defeated Wheaton (Ill.) 1-0 in one overtime in the day's first game.
DePauw's Crissy Harter scored on an assist from Kim Schreiner just 1:13 into the game and Davis Federspiel added the eventual game-winner at 21:29 on an assist from Kate Nickols. Hope scored its only goal with 3:35 left in the first half.
Mary Beth Robinson added a pair of second-half goals with the second assisted by Harter. The Tigers outshot the Flying Dutch, 26-4.
In the first game, Washington's Meghan Fowler-Finn scored just 32 seconds into the first overtime to give the Bears the victory.
Saturday's action in the predetermined classic schedule has Hope and Wheaton meeting at 2 p.m. with DePauw and Washington tangling at 4 p.m.
