Box Score St. Mary-of-the-Woods, Ind. - The Tigers dropped to 11-16 on the season after losing the first game of a scheduled doubleheader at St. Mary-of-the-Woods College by a 6-3 score. The second game was called off in the fourth inning due to rain.
DePauw jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second when Carli Worthman led off with a single up the middle. Angela Keslin followed with a base hit to left and advanced to third when the ball got past the Pomeroys' left fielder. Worthman scored on the play. Kristy Mahon grounded out to second to score Keslin.
The Pomeroys evened the score in the second when Jocelyn Long drew a one-out walk and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Erica Ketner followed with a run-scoring single to left and advanced to third on an error. Ketner scored after an infield error by the Tigers.
Jennifer Phegley led off the St. Mary-of-the-Woods fourth with a double down the left field line and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Long followed with a walk and then stole second. Meredith Kadel's squeeze bunt scored Phegley and Ketner's infield single brought home Long to make it 4-2.
The Pomeroys added two more in the fifth when Katie Iocoangeli led off witha single. She advanced to second on Barb Cekander's sacrifice bunt. Phegley singled home Iocoangeli and later scored on a wild pitch.
DePauw scored its final run in the seventh as Mahon reached on an infield error and Nicole Kernan followed with a walk. Annie Morgan reached safely on an error on a sacrifice bunt that scored Mahon.
Keslin finished with two of the Tigers' four hits, while Ketner had three hits for the Pomeroys and Phegley added a pair. Lauren Curosh dropped to 5-8 with the loss and Long picked up the win for St. Mary-of-the-Woods with Cekander adding the save.
DePauw returns to Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action on Friday with a doubleheader at Centre that begins a four-game series at Danville, Ky.
