DePauw comes from behind in both games for doubleheader sweep

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Greencastle, Ind. - The Tigers rallied from late-inning deficits in both games of their doubleheader with visiting Huntington and picked up a sweep of the twinbill. DePauw won both games by 3-2 scores to improve to 4-6 on the season, while Huntington slipped to 1-3.

In the nightcap, the Tigers scored all three of their runs with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to take the win. Nicole Kernan started the rally with an infield single to short and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Annie Morgan followed with a bunt single that moved Kernan to third.

Laura Schlensker then hit a ball that just got under the glove of the Foresters' shortstop and through to the outfield for a double that plated both Kernan and Thompson. Ashley Sewell then drove a ball to left that glanced off of left fielder Emily Burkholder's glove as she was running toward the foul line for the game-ending base hit.

Huntington scored its two runs in the third with a two-out rally of its own as April Snider doubled to right center and Holly Gibson walked. Kaley Fode singled to left and advanced to second on the throw from the outfield with Snider scoring on the play. Renae Schortgen reached on a bunt single that plated Gibson.

Hillary Enyart picked up her third straight win to improve to 3-2 on the season, while Veronica Brown dropped to 0-2. Morgan, Schlensker and Sewell each collected two hits for the Tigers. Gibson had a pair for Huntington.

In the first game, Huntington jumped out to a 1-0 lead as Gibson's triple down the right field line scored Schortgen. The Tigers countered with one in the bottom half of the inning on Caroline Provan's bases loaded sacrifice fly to center that scored Kernan.

The Foresters took the lead in the fifth when Schortgen scored from first on Julie Replogle's double to left center. DePauw then knotted the score in the bottom half of the inning on Morgan's single to center that scored Jessica Krueger. In the sixth Sewell led off with a double down the left field line and Provan followed with a single to left center for the eventual game-winning tally.

Lauren Curosh picked her first collegiate win in five decisions as she allowed just one earned run on five hits, while striking out nine and walking just one. Replogle dropped to 1-1 with the loss and finished with five strikeouts and no walks. Morgan collected two hits for the Tigers.

DePauw returns to action on Sunday when it travels to Hanover for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
