DePauw loses at second-ranked Illinois Wesleyan

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Tigers fell behind 17-0 just four minutes into the game and were never able to recover in a 67-48 loss to second-ranked Illinois Wesleyan in the Illinois Wesleyan Tipoff Tournament championship game.

 

The Titans came out blistering, hitting seven of their first eight shots while the Tigers missed their first nine shots and committed five turnovers in the opening nine minutes of the contest.

 

Reid Sakel led the Tigers with 12 points followed by Alex Stewart with 11. Adam Dauksas paced the Titans with 16 points and seven assists, while Jason Fisher added 12. Stewart earned a spot on the all-tournament team.

 

Illinois Wesleyan shot 40 percent from the floor for the game including just under 54 percent in the first half, while the Tigers shot just 29 percent form the floor for the contest. The Titans outrebounded DePauw 44-37 with Steve Schweer grabbing 11. Todd Capes paced the Tigers with six boards.

 

The Tigers host the Mike Rokicki Community Versus Cancer Challenge on November 27-28. All proceeds from the tournament benefit the American Cancer Society through DePauw's Relay for Life.
