Sixth-ranked Tigers fall to Sewanee

SEWANEE, Tenn. - The sixth-ranked DePauw women's soccer team dropped to 5-2-1 overall and 2-1 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference after losing by a 2-1 score at Sewanee. Sewanee improved to 8-1 overall and 3-0 in SCAC play.

 

Kate Nickols put the Tigers ahead at 21:50 with an assist from Tory Pavlovich before Sewanee tied the game on Hayes Jenigan's goal with an assist from Leland Strang at 35:55. Sewanee's Mary Hankin delivered the game winner at 53:27 with an assist from Maggie Adams.

 

Sewanee outshout DePauw 14-9 and DePauw held a 5-3 edge in corners. Abby Currens recorded one save, while Sewanee's Taylor Steadman totaled three.

 

The loss snapped DePauw's streak of 15 straight SCAC victories and marked their first conference loss to a school other than Trinity since the Tigers began SCAC play in 1998.

 

DePauw travels to Centre for a 2 p.m. contest on Sunday.
