Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw improved to 5-4 on the season with a 132-105 victory over visiting Wabash at the Erdmann Natatorium. Wabash dropped to 3-5.
The Little Giants jumped out to an early lead as the 400 medley relay of Matthew Perkins, Benjamin Hewitt, Kyle Weaver and Jeddah Wegerhoff opened the meet by winning in 3:43.46, before Brett Findley and Bradley Williams finished first and second, respectively, in the 1000 freestyle in 10:27.91 and 10:42.78. However, the Tigers won the next four events and eight of the final 10 to claim the victory.
Andrew Cornett won the 200 free in 1:47.92 before Cary Devrou finished first in the 50 free in 22.65 and Evan Kennel won the 200 individual medley in 1:59.15. Jonathan Enenbach and Wilson Vilafana then took the top two spots in the one-meter board with 221.5 and 187.45 points, respectively.
Findley posted a Wabash win in the 200 butterfly in 2:04.48 before the Tigers took the top two places in the 100 free. Cornett picked up his second individual win of the evening in 49.38 seconds and Devrou placed second in 49.68 seconds.
Kennel then notched his second first of the meet by winning the 200 backstroke in 1:57.71. Findley then claimed his third win of the night by taking first for the Little Giants in the 500 free in 5:02.67.
DePauw again claimed the top two spots on the three-meter board as Vilafana won with 207.10 points and Enenbach placed second with 200.95. Wabash's Hewitt and Colin Fahey finished one-two in the 200 breaststroke in 2:11.91 and 2:18.95, respectively before the Tigers' 400 free relay of Cornett, Tod Karpinski, Kiel Beehler and Kennel won in 3:19.00.
The Tigers return to action on Saturday, January 17, when they host Illinois Wesleyan at 1 p.m.
