Greencastle, Ind. - Host DePauw never trailed against Rhodes and picked up a 101-81 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victory.
The Tigers improved to 14-6 overall and stayed in first in the SCAC with a 9-1 conference record. Rhodes fell to 10-10 overall and 4-6 in SCAC play.
DePauw led by as many as 16 in the first half on the way to a 50-35 halftime advantage. They then extended the lead to 61-37 with an 11-2 run in first three minutes of the second half.
That lead reached as many as 31 points late in the contest before the Lynx outscored the Tigers 14-3 in the final 4:10.
Jeremy Bettis led the Tigers with 20 points and also grabbed nine rebounds, while Joe Ringger posted his 11th double-double of the season with 19 points and 14 rebounds as DePauw held a commanding 51-26 advantage on the boards. Jon Owens finished with 16 and Alex Stewart added 13 off the bench. Robert Davis dished out a game-high five assists in the win.
Mladen Mrkaic led the Lynx with 22 points followed by Rami Almefty with 18 and Carl Yoder with 17.
Ringger moved into sixth place on DePauw's all-time scoring list and into a tie for eighth in SCAC history with 1,406 points. He is the only player in SCAC history with over 1,400 points and 700 rebounds and joined Brett Hecko as one of two DePauw players to reach that milestone. Ringger ranks fifth in DePauw history and second in the SCAC with 714 career rebounds.
DePauw hosts Hendrix on Sunday, February 9, at 1 p.m. Rhodes travels to Rose-Hulman for a 1 p.m. contest on Sunday.
