Fifth-ranked Tigers advance to national quarterfinals after 4-0 win over Wilmington

Fifth-ranked DePauw advanced to the NCAA Division III quarterfinals for the first time in school history with a 4-0 win over visiting Wilmington. The Tigers improved to 15-4 with their eighth straight win and 12th shutout of the season. Wilmington ended its season at 19-4-1.

 

The Tigers scored three first-half goals in a 12-minute stretch to put the game away. Davis Federspiel scored at 22:15 on an assist from Kelly Orgo before Mary Beth Robinson added a score at 32:45 on Corinne Scott's assist. Meredith Rinaker scored the third goal of the half at 34:15 on an assist from Kim Schreiner. Scott added a goal at 63:10 with an assist from Mo Mohan.

 

For the second straight game DePauw outshot its opponent 20-4 and this time they held a 6-4 advantage in corners.

 

DePauw improved its all-time NCAA postseason record to 5-3 as it won for the first time in the regional finals after two previous unsuccessful tries.

 

The Tigers travel to Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday, November 22, for the 7 p.m. quarterfinal game.
