Greencastle, Ind. - Adam Blandford's 14-yard touchdown run in the first overtime period gave visiting Centre a 34-28 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference win over DePauw on Old Gold Day at Blackstock Stadium. Centre improved to 7-2 overall and 4-1 in the SCAC, while DePauw dropped to 5-3 overall and 3-2 in the conference. The overtime marked the second straight time that Centre had defeated the Tigers in overtime in Greencastle as they won 34-31 in 2001.

DePauw took possession first in the overtime and converted a fourth-and-one with Matt King's 1-yard run to the Centre 15. The drive stalled at the Centre 9 and Ben Murray missed a 26-yard field goal. Centre opened its possession by picking up a first down on third-and-one as Lorenzo Engleman gained the necessary yard. Engleman then gained another on first down before Blandford ran it in for the winning score.

Centre never trailed in the game that featured four ties with each team swapping touchdowns through regulation. DePauw trailed 21-14 entering the fourth quarter before Brad Wochomurka scored his first collegiate touchdown on an 8-yard pass from Andy Yoder with 14:16 left in regulation.

The Colonels regained the lead on Rhese McKenzie's 3-yard pass from Brian Behrendt with 5:34 left to cap a nine-play, 63-yard drive. The Tigers came right back as Ross Wiethoff teamed with Brian Culp for a 68-yard scoring pass on the third play of the next series to make it 28-28 with 4:37 remaining.

After a second straight defensive stand, the Tigers took over on their own 8 with 1:34 left. Yoder completed three straight passes to Jamarcus Shephard to move the ball to the DePauw 27. Yoder then connected with Torey Rauch to the Centre 46. An incomplete pass and a sack left the Tigers on their own 47 with 1.6 seconds left. Yoder's heave toward the end zone was intentionally tipped by a DePauw receiver, but just out of the reach of Wochomurka.

Centre opened the game by scoring on its first series as Blandford scored from four yards to cap a 13-play, 85-yard possession in 6:31. The Tigers needed just four plays to tie the game at 7-7 as Yoder scored on a 5-yard run with 3:34 left in the first.

Engleman scored on a 31-yard run early in the second, but the Tigers responded on their next series as Kyle McGrath caught a 15-yard pass from Wiethoff to tie the game at 14-14 with 5:02 left in the half. The score was McGrath's first collegiate touchdown. The Colonels went into the half with the lead as Behrendt completed a 12-yard pass to David Crowley with 32 seconds remaining in the half.

Centre finished with 499 yards of offense to DePauw's 430 and the Colonels possessed the ball for nearly 37 minutes.

Blandford carried the ball just three times for 19 yards, but two went for touchdowns. However, it was Engleman and Behrendt who provided most of the offensive spark for the Colonels. Engleman rushed for a game-high 186 yards on 31 carries and caught nine passes for 61 yards from Behrendt who finished with 28-of-42 passing for 279 yards and two scores. Nate Woodall caught seven passes for 96 yards, Crowley added five for 95 yards and Adam Schneider finished with five for 23 yards.

Jackson Rust paced DePauw with 53 rushing yards on just nine carries, while King had 46 yards in 13 tries. Yoder completed 14 of 25 passes for 158 yards and one touchdown and Wiethoff finished with six-of-12 for 148 yards and two scores. Shephard caught eight passes for 57 yards and Rauch had five for 77. Culp finished with just two receptions, but they totaled 112 yards.

Defensively, Cory Partlow led DePauw with 14 tackles and Mike Laszynski added 13. John Ortega has 14 stops for Centre. David Blackburn and Justin Tillis each recorded two breakups for DePauw, while Kevin Tytus had a pair for Centre.

DePauw finishes SCAC play at Rose-Hulman on Saturday, November 8, at 1:30 p.m., while Centre concludes its season at home against Rose-Hulman on Saturday, November 15.
