Richmond, Ind. (1-8-03) - Joe Ringger posted his third consecutive double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds to lead visiting DePauw to a 62-53 win over Earlham.
DePauw never trailed in the game in the contest in winning its fourth straight game and improving to 7-5 overall. Earlham fell to 6-6 on the season.
The Tigers led by as many as nine in the first half after an 11-3 run midway through the half as Wes Thornhill scored five of his 13 during the stretch.
DePauw pushed the lead to as many as 10 points on two occasions, while the Quakers got as close as three. Brandon Miller's two free throws with 5:41 left closed the DePauw lead to 49-46, but Thornhill again scored five straight to push the margin back to eight with 2:25 remaining. The Tigers nailed six straight free throws in the final minute to seal the victory.
Jeremy Bettis was the third Tiger in double figures with 12 points. Nathan Stoops led four Earlham double-figure scorers with 14 points followed by Sean O'Reilly and Miller with 12 apiece and Narkous Jewett with 10.
The Tigers limited Earlham to just under 36 percent shooting from the floor and outrebounded the Quakers 38-27.
DePauw returns to Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action when it hosts Rose-Hulman on Saturday at 8 p.m.
