Greencastle, Ind. - Host DePauw shot 54 percent from the field and held Sewanee to just 39 percent in gaining an 86-67 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference win.
DePauw stayed in a tie for first in the SCAC at 5-1 and improved to 10-6 overall. Sewanee slipped to 2-12 overall and 1-5 in SCAC play.
Sewanee led 14-13 eight minutes into the contest before DePauw scored 10 straight to take a 23-14 lead which they never relinquished.
The guests closed to within eight at 50-42 after Jason Smith's layup with 13:49 remaining, but DePauw put together a 14-1 run to put the game away. The run included back-to-back three-pointers from Alex Stewart who finished with four-of-five from long range. The lead reached as many as 27 points at 84-57 with 2:39 remaining.
Joe Ringger led the Tigers with 17 points followed by Stewart with 16 and Jon Owens with 14. Eugene Talley paced Sewanee with 17 points and a game-high eight rebounds. Allen Hofammann scored 14 and Jonathan Jarrett added 12. DePauw outrebounded Sewanee 42-33.
DePauw hosts Centre at 1 p.m. on Sunday in a battle to two SCAC first-place squads.
