Senior Darcy Vannatta allowed just one earned run in 15 innings of work on Wednesday to lead the Tigers to a sweep of Rose-Hulman

Greencastle, Ind. - The Tigers scored two in the bottom of the eighth of game one of their doubleheader with visiting Rose-Hulman to take a 3-2 win over the Engineers and swept the doubleheader with a 3-1 win in the second game. DePauw improved to 11-22-1 overall and 5-5 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, while the Engineers fell to 8-25 and 4-8.

The two victories moved the Tigers from fourth to second in the SCAC East Division standings and they can earn a fourth straight trip to the SCAC tournament with at least a split with Centre on Saturday.

DePauw fell behind in the first inning of game one as the Engineers scored an unearned run, but came back in the bottom of the second to tie the score as Nicole Johnson's groundout to first plated Kristen Stephan who led off the inning with a single.

The game went to extra innings and Rose-Hulman took a 2-1 lead after Lauren Clark singled to right to score Lynsey Clark who led off the inning at second as a result of the tie-breaker rule.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Tigers began the frame with Johnson on second. She moved to third on Vicki Sharp's bunt and scored on Kylie Moord's triple to center. Hilary Enyart then laid down a bunt that plated Moord with the game-winner.

Darcy Vannatta picked up the win and allowed just two unearned runs in eight innings. Clark suffered the loss for the Engineers. Moord and Enyart each collected two hits for the Tigers, while Clark had a pair for Rose-Hulman.

The Tigers scored twice in the third inning of the second game as Moord led off with a single and moved to second on Enyart's bunt. Angela Keslin was hit by a pitch and both runners moved up with stolen bases. Andrea Clark's bunt scored Moord and an error on the play allowed Keslin to score the second run.

Rose-Hulman cut the lead in half in the fifth as Tabatha Doughty led off with a triple and scored on Jen Clevnger's groundout. DePauw added one more in the sixth when Moord scored from third on a wild pitch.

Vannatta scattered just three hits in improving to 9-12 on the season and lowered her ERA to 1.79. Clark fell to 8-10 for the Engineers. Moord led the way for DePauw with a pair of hits and six other Tigers added one each.
