Mike Howland recorded one of three Tiger double-doubles with 16 points and 11 assists in a 94-80 win over Judson.
Greencastle, Ind. - Three Tigers posted double-doubles on the way to a 94-80 non-conference victory over visiting Judson. The win lifted DePauw's record to 17-3 overall, while Judson fell to 16-12. DePauw entered the game ranked seventh by Basketball America and 12th by D3Hoops.com.
Joe Nixon led the Tigers with 27 points and added 10 rebounds, while Joe Ringger finished with 19 points and eight boards. Mike Howland and Jeremy Bettis each scored 16 with Howland dishing out a game-high 11 assists and Bettis grabbing a game-best 13 boards.
Luke Condill paced the Eagles with 20 followed by Lawrence McGhee with 16, Dan Matlack with 14 and Scott Fortune with 11. McGhee hauled down seven rebounds.
DePauw never trailed on the way to the victory and led by as many as 12 in the first half before going to the break with a 44-34 advantage. The Tigers used an 11-3 run early in the second half to push the lead to 55-39 with 16:38 remaining. Ringger scored the final five points of that string.
Joe Ringger scored 19 and grabbed eight rebounds in the Tigers' 14-point win.
Judson trimmed the margin back to 13, but the Tigers then put the game away with a 13-2 run to take a 70-46 lead midway through the second half.
The Tigers shot nearly 61 percent from the field in the second half and just over 54 percent for the game, marking the 15th time this season they've shot 50 percent or better from the floor.
The Tigers return to Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play when they host Southwestern on Friday at 8 p.m. DePauw enters the weekend with a one-game lead in the loss column over both Rose-Hulman and Trinity.
