Tigers roll to 99-71 victory; maintain lead in SCAC

Atlanta, Ga. - Five Tigers scored in double figures and 12 of the 14 who played, scored, in a 99-71 victory at Oglethorpe. The win lifted the fifth-ranked Tigers' record to 16-3 and their Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference mark to a league-leading 11-2. Oglethorpe dropped to 3-16 overall and 1-12 in the SCAC.

Joe Nixon paced the Tigers with 25 points followed by Joe Ringger with 17 Matt Kleymeyer and Jeremy Bettis with 14 apiece and Mike Howland with 11. Bettis added 10 rebounds for his sixth double-double of the season. DePauw outrebounded the Stormy Petrels 36-29 and shot nearly 60 percent from the field.

Russ Churchwell led Oglethorpe with 21 points and a game-high 11 rebounds, while Barrett Karvis added 15 points and Joel Garrison had 10.

The Tigers pulled away midway through the first half with a 20-5 run to push the lead to 35-16 with 5:30 left in the half. That lead reached as many as 26 points in the half.

Leading 61-33 three minutes into the second half, the Tigers began a 15-2 run over a five-minute stretch to take a 76-35 advantage with 11:47 remaining in the contest.

DePauw hosts Judson College on Tuesday, February 5, at 7:30 p.m.
