Seniors Leslie Oesterle, Jamie Anderson and Mychelle Coon were honored between games of the doubleheader.
GREENCASTLE, IND. - Behind the pitching of Darcy Vannatta and Mychelle Coon, the Tigers celebrated Senior Day with a pair of 6-0 wins over visiting Franklin. The wins lift the Tigers' overall record to 22-11-1. Franklin fell to 8-13 on the season.
Vannatta allowed just two singles in the first game and extended her scoreless innings streak to 21 1/3 consecutive innings. DePauw took a 2-0 lead in the second on RBI singles by Coon and Jamie Anderson.
They made it 4-0 in the fourth as Coon and Kristyn Tekulve each singled in runs. In the fifth, Lauri Kinkel drew a two-out walked before Andrea Clark blasted a shot over the right fielder's head for an inside-the-park home run.
Andrea Clark belted this inside-the-park homer in the fifth inning of the first game to help the Tigers to a 6-0 win.
Clark went three-for-three and drove in a pair, while Coon and Anderson each collected two hits. Coon also drove in a pair. Vannatta improved to 13-5 on the season with the win.
The Tigers scored two in the bottom of the first of the nightcap with the help of a couple of Grizzlies' errors. They added two more unearned runs in the third on Lauri Kinkel's sacrifice fly and a wild pitch.
In the sixth, Keri Shake led off with a single and scored on Clark's triple to right. Lauren Partaker then lifted a sacrifice fly to center that scored Clark.
Coon and Kylie Moord each had two hits in game two. Coon earned her eighth win in 1 decisions.
The Tigers host Anderson on Wednesday, April 25 for a 3:30 p.m. doubleheader before opening the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championship at noon on Friday, April 27, against two-time defending conference champion Trinity (Texas) University.
