November 3, 2001, Terre Haute, Ind. - The Tigers fell behind 7-0 at Rose-Hulman on the first play from scrimmage, but scored the next 35 on the way to a 45-22 win over the Engineers.

The Tigers rolled up a season-high 538 yards which marked their fifth straight game with over 400 yards. The defense limited the Engineers to just 55 rushing yards and intercepted Rose-Hulman five times. In all, the Tigers picked up seven turnovers from the Engineers.

Rose-Hulman used a trick play to jump out to the lead as quarterback Jared Tharpe caught a 45-yard pass from Josh Willis just 26 seconds into the contest. However, the Tigers rallied to score the next 35 including 28 in the first quarter.

DePauw led 35-15 at halftime before the Engineers cut the margin to 35-22 in the third. Ben Murray's 28-yard field goal and Josh Angel's 69-yard interception return for a score made it 45-22 with 7:44 left in the third.

DePauw rushed for 222 yards and totaled 316 through the air as sophomore Matt King rushed for 141 on 20 carries and Jason Lee completed 26 of 42 passes with four touchdowns. Lee's 307 passing yards moved his season total to 2,735 which surpassed the previous DePauw mark of 2,722 by Bernie Haskins in 1996. He also pushed his career total to 4,988 which now ranks second in school history.

John Stephens caught nine passes for 88 yards and one score, while Dan Ryan and Mark Rinehart each grabbed six. Ryan's two touchdown receptions lifted his season total to a record 12 and his career mark to 25 which is just one shy of tying the DePauw record of 26 held by Jamie Cunha (1992-96).

Tharpe completed 25 of 51 passes for 249 yards, but was picked off five times. Jason Short caught seven passes for 76 yards.

Obinna Ugokwe led DePauw with 10 tackles followed by Angel and Mike Laszynski with seven each, while John Christophersen and David Blackburn picked off two passes apiece. Matt Zuber paced the Engineers with 12 tackles.

The Tigers host Wabash in the 108th meeting between the two schools and the 70th for possession of the Monon Bell. Kickoff is set for 1:07 p.m.
