Tigers Edge Little Giants for First Win Over Rivals in 12 Years

CRAWFORDSVILLE, IND. - The DePauw men's swimming and diving team used everything it had to snap its long losing streak against Wabash on Wednesday evening in breath-taking fashion as they won the final event to win the meet, 122-121. The win was DePauw's first over Wabash since the 1984-85 season and lifted their overall record to 6-1.

"It was a great team win," DePauw coach Adam Cohen said.

"Practically every kid who swam scored a point for us. When it came down to the end, the seniors experience really made the difference."</p>

The Tigers trailed 87-63 and needed to win the final five events to win the meet. They took the first four and still trailed 115-111 entering the 400-yard free relay. Bill Bare, Chris Bausano, Ted Collison and Craig Remsen finished the 400-yard free relay in 3:16.91 just .06 seconds in front of the Wabash team and the streak was over. Bare, the anchor, entered the water behind his Wabash competitor and took the lead over the final 15 yards to claim the victory for the Tigers</p>

The Tigers put together solid first placed finishes throughout with the 400 medley relay squad opening the meet with a first place finish in 3:37.75.
