Entries are unlimited in all individual track and field events. Each school is limited to one relay squad per event. Only performances from the current indoor and outdoor seasons will be accepted into the meet. Indoor performances may be used for the same event only; with the exception of the mile (a mile to 1500 conversion will be provided for both genders).  We will use the TFRRS database to check performances.

Entry Procedure
Direct Athletics must receive entries by 7 p.m. (Eastern Time) on the Thursday prior to the meet. Declarations for the meet will be considered as final. After 7 p.m. (Eastern Time) on Thursday, no additions or substitutions will be permitted. Any scratch from a running event or field event will scratch the athlete from all further competition. The meet director will post the Meet Program by 10 a.m. on Friday morning. Any issues with meet entries will be resolved by a vote of the Games Committee.

Entry Fees
Entry fees will be $600 per school. Make checks payable to the host school. Checks sent through the mail must be received by Friday prior to the meet. The fees will help defray the costs of officials, timing system and awards. The host school will accept responsibility for meet costs equaling the travel to a similar meet in the state of Indiana. (example  $1500).

Seeding Information
The meet will be seeded on Thursday evening in the host school’s Track & Field offices.  All Indiana coaches & meet referees are invited to attend this session. The meet director will email all head coaches the Meet Program on Friday AM.

Event seeding will use the performance lists provided by Direct Athletics. All lists must be updated by 7 p.m. (Eastern Time) on Thursday.

Meet Scoring

Awards
Individual awards (T-shirts, spike bag, etc.) will be awarded to the top three individuals in each event and relay champions. All head coaches will meet at the finish line area immediately following the final event. Coaches will vote for Most Outstanding Track Athletes and Most Outstanding Field Athletes. These awards and Team Champion awards will be presented by representatives from the host school. All teams are requested to remain in the stadium for the awards presentation.

Meet Numbers
We will use only Hip Numbers given to the athletes by the clerks before each event.  The meet director will designate a specific, clerking area. Hip numbers will be placed on both hips. Contestants in the 1500, SC, 5k & 10k will wear an additional number on the right chest of the singlet.

Format for Conducting the Meet

Field Events

Format for setting up the long jump, triple jump, shot put, javelin, discus, and hammer throw:
Competitors will be randomly assigned to flights not larger than 16 or smaller than 5.  Each competitor will receive three (3) preliminary attempts.  The top nine (9) performances in each event will qualify for the finals where the order will be in reverse of the performances in the preliminaries for three (3) final attempts.  Ties will be broken in accordance with NCAA rules. There will be a ten-minute warm-up period between flights and between preliminaries and finals.

Format for setting up the high jump and pole vault:
The order of competition will be random.  Starting height for the HJ will be 5 cms. lower than the eighth best entry. Starting height for the PV will be 15 cms. below the eighth best entry. The Games Committee may adjust the starting heights if weather conditions dictate. The “five alive” procedure will be used throughout the competition.

Track Events

All events will be run as finals. The fastest section will run first followed by the next fastest, etc.

Format for setting up the 800 meters
We will run as many sections as necessary based on times. The top eight athletes and ties will compete in the first section. The remaining sections will be divided equally with no more than 12 in a section. Random positioning and alleys will be used in the 800.

Format for setting up the 1500 meters
We will run as many sections as necessary based on times. The top twelve athletes and ties will compete in the first section. The remaining sections will be divided equally with no more than 16 in a section. Random positioning and waterfall start line will be used in the 1500.

Format for setting up the steeplechase
If there are more than 24 entries, two sections will be run with twelve in the first section and the remaining athletes in the second section.

Format for setting up the 5,000 meters
If the Games Committee believes the field is too large for one section, the event will be divided into two sections.

5k/10k Races
Coaches are asked to help time their runners as a back-up measure.  Sheets will be provided in your packet.  Athletes in these races will finish in lane four.
