DePauw Bows out of NCAA Championship Following Loss to Top-Seed and Second-Ranked Calvin

Grand Rapids, Mich. - DePauw's season came to an end in the second round of the NCAA Division III Championship after the Tigers dropped a 3-0 (25-15, 25-23, 25-18) decision to second-ranked and top-seeded Calvin. The Tigers finished at 25-6, while the Knights improved to 29-1.

Calvin never trailed in the opening st and pushed a 12-11 advantage to 17-11 and then 22-12. The Tigers then used a 6-2 run to take a 10-9 lead in the second set and still led 21-20 before the Knights scored the next three and held on for the win. 

DePauw took control of the third set after jumping out to a 9-4 lead, but Calvin scored eight straight to gain a 12-9 advantage. The Tigers scored the next three, but the hosts essentially put DePauw away with six straight winners.

Calvin outhit the Tigers .261-.140 and held a 45-31 edge in kills. Morgan Stearley led DePauw with 14 kills and a .407 attack percentage. Anna Kemp had 16 kills and a .429 attack percentage for Calvin.

Keegan Kollias assisted on 25 of the DePauw kills, while Jenna Lodewyk had 37 for Calvin. Calvin served up nine aces including three from Keilahna Castillo. Kollias had two of DePauw's five aces.

The Tigers held a 65-53 digs advantage as Emily Blankespoor had 24 for the hosts and Rachael Lenderman totaled 14 for DePauw. Haley Bitzer totaled three blocks for the Tigers.
