Greencastle, Ind. - After dropping the opening set to Ohio Wesleyan, DePauw scored the first seven points of the second and swept the next three sets in a 3-1 (17-25, 25-21, 25-13, 25-20) North Coast Athletic Conference win over visiting Ohio Wesleyan.
The Tigers improved to 18-4 overall and 6-1 in the conference, while the Battling Bishops dropped to 14-10 overall and 4-3 in the NCAC.
In the opening set, Ohio Wesleyan held a 24-10 lead before the Tigers scored seven straight. The Battling Bishops ended the run and the set with a Shelby Ksiazek kill.
After DePauw took a 7-0 lead in the second, Ohio Wesleyan battled to tie the set on six occasions with the last coming at 21-21. The Tigers evened the match at 1-1 by scoring the set's final four points.
DePauw again got out to a quick start in the third set with a 10-3 lead and the Battling Bishops were no closer than six the rest of the way. In the fourth set, DePauw led 8-4 before the guests put together a 10-3 run to gain a 14-11 advantage. The Tigers scored the next six to take the lead for good.
DePauw outhit Ohio Wesleyan .215-.103 and held a 57-43 edge in kills. The Tigers hit .424 in the third and .293 in the fourth.
Rachael Lenderman paced DePauw with 22 digs, while Ohio Wesleyan's Erin Cannon had 23.
Each team recorded eight blocks as Bitzer had five block assists for DePauw and Kenzee Martin had the same for the Battling Bishops.
DePauw wraps up NCAC regular season play on Saturday when it travels to Denison for a 1 p.m. match.
