Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw hit over .400 in each of the first two sets and rallied late in the third for a 3-0 win over Thomas More in the Tigers' home opener.
After taking a 25-18 win in the opening set in which they hit .440, the Tigers jumped out to 9-1 lead in the second with eight straight points. The Saints responded with four straight, but got no closer as DePauw won the set, 25-18, while hitting .406.
DePauw built an 18-14 lead in the final set before Thomas More rallied with nine straight. The Tigers battled back for a 27-25 win to close out the match.
Suzanne Peters paced DePauw with 10 kills, while Elisabeth Wilson added seven. Morgan Stearley added six and hit .545. Paige Noday led the Saints with seven kills. The Tigers hit .272 for the match to the Saints' .093.
Keegan Kollias assisted on 27 of the Tigers' 36 kills, while Alli Borders had 25 assists as the Saints totaled 33 kills.
Rachael Lenderman led the Tigers with two aces and 11 digs, while Borders had two aces for the Saints and a team-high 10 digs.
DePauw finished with 10 blocks as Haley Bitzer had six block assists and Stearley five. Thomas More totaled four blocks.
The Tigers return to action on Friday, September 16, when they host Trine at 6 p.m. and Hope at 8 p.m. on the opening day of the DePauw Tigers Invitational.
