Greencastle, Ind.- Entering the North Coast Athletic Conference tournament as the number two seed, the DePauw volleyball team is poised to make a run through the conference tournament and earn a second-straight appearance in the NCAA tournament.
The Tigers (24-9, 7-1) play No. 7-seeded Oberlin (12-17, 2-6) in their quarterfinal match, Friday night starting at 7:00 p.m. Top-seeded Wittenberg (24-3, 8-0) will serve as the tournament hosts for the ninth year in a row.
DePauw defeated Oberlin in straight sets (25-16, 25-14, 25-17) in their regular season meeting on September 20. The Tigers were led by Mary Kate Etling who had nine kills and Faith Rolwes with 27 assists. Keely McGrath, Nicole Burge and Emily Beckes each severed a pair of aces and McGrath led with 14 digs.
Coming off their first appearance in the NCAA tournament since 2000, the Tigers have put together another strong resume with hopes of returning to postseason play. DePauw is led by Rolwes who tops the conference with a .403 hitting percentage and is second with 9.72 assists per set. Elisabeth Wilson paces the conference with .96 blocks per set, adding 2.4 kills per set, while McGrath is second in the league averaging 5.28 digs per set.
Live stats will be available for the quarter final match. Tickets for the contest are $7 for adults and $3 for children (18 and under). Students from an NCAC institution receive free admission by presenting a valid school ID at the gate.
