Tigers Split Opening Matches at Benedictine

Lisle, Ill. - DePauw opened play at Benedictine's Eagle Classic with a 3-1 (25-23, 19-25, 25-20, 25-23) win over Dominican before dropping a 3-2 (25-20, 18-25, 25-20, 19-25, 15-12) decision to 17th-ranked Carthage. With the split, the Tigers are now 23-8.

Against Dominican, Sarah Burtenshaw led the Tigers with 14 kills and a .483 attack percentage. Lauren Falotico followed with 12 kills and Molly Rinehart 11. Faith Rolwes assisted on 45 of DePauw's 55 kills, while Elisabeth Wilson and Emily Beckes each had three service aces. 

Keely McGrath's 17 digs led the way followed by Rachael Lenderman and Beckes with 16 apiece. Mary Kate Etling posted a team-high five blocks.

Burtenshaw's 15 kills paced DePauw in the five-set loss to Carthage with Rolwes totaling 36 assists. McGrath had three aces with Rolwes and Beckes each totaling two, while McGrath led with 27 digs. Rolwes had a team-high two blocks.

DePauw returns to the court on Saturday with matches against North Central and Elmhurst.
