Greencastle, Ind.- After winning the Berry College Invitational the DePauw volleyball team has made its way into the top 25 in the most recent American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III Poll.
The Tigers are tied for 23rd in the country after going 3-1 in their opening weekend.
DePauw opened the season with a 3-0 (25-5, 25-8, 25-13) victory over Agnes Scott on Saturday. They fell in the nightcap to Berry College 1-3 (22-25, 16-25, 25-12, 25-27), but quickly rebounded with two wins on Sunday. The Tigers defeated Lynchburg 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-18) in their morning match and knocked off the second-ranked Emory Eagles 3-1 (28-26, 19-25, 25-13, 25-22) in the afternoon.
Junior setter Faith Rolwes was named the tournament's most valuable player, while senior middle hitter Mary Kate Etling was named to the all-tournament team. Rolwes also earned AVCA and NCAC player of the week honors.
The Tigers return to action Friday, September 5, when they play Spalding at Hanover College starting at 7:45 p.m.
