Greencastle, Ind. – The DePauw women's tennis team beat Wittenberg 9-0 for their first conference win of the season.
The No. 2 doubles team of Meredith Breda and Amanda Showalter and the No. 3 team of Colleen Morris and Ali Bush started the day with 8-3 wins. Megan Galle and Sarah Wilder won 8-1 at the No. 1 flight.
In singles action, the women won in straight sets across the board. At No. 1 Morris won 6-3, 7-5; at No. 2 Galle won 6-0, 6-3; at No. 3 Breda won 6-1, 6-0; at No. 4 Bush picked up a 6-3, 6-3 win; at the No. 5 Showalter blanked her opponent 6-0, 6-0; and at No. 6 Wilder won 6-1, 6-1.
DePauw is now 5-10 overall and 1-0 in the NCAC West. Wittenberg drops to 5-6 overall and 0-2 in the conference. DePauw plays again Saturday against two teams, Denison and Ohio Wesleyan, with the first match slated at 9 a.m.
