Tigers Win Battle Between Ranked Teams

Claremont, Calif. -- The 30th-ranked DePauw women's tennis team proved their standing Wednesday with a 5-4 win over 35th-ranked Gustavus Adolphus.

The Tigers started the match with wins at the two and three doubles flights. At No. 2 Alyssa Seneviratne and Meredith Breda won 8-5, and at No. 3 Megan Galle and Sarah Wilder won 8-4. Maddie Lee and Gretchen Wilder fell in a close No. 1 match 8-6. 

The two teams then split in singles play.

Gretchen Wilder took a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles. At No. 3 singles Ali Bush won 6-7, 6-1, 6-3, and at No. 6 singles Galle came back to win 3-6, 6-2, 6-3.

At the No. 1 singles spot Lee could not close out a third set win in a 6-1, 0-6, 7-6 loss. DePauw also fell at No. 4 and No. 5. Colleen Morris lost 6-1, 6-4, and Seneviratne fell 6-2, 6-0.

Gustavus drops to 11-3 with the loss, while DePauw improves to 7-4.
