No. 9 WashU Bests DePauw 7-2

Greencastle, Ind. – The 30th ranked DePauw women's tennis team held their own against ninth-ranked Washington University on Friday but ultimately fell 7-2.

DePauw took wins at 5 singles and the No. 3 doubles flight. Alyssa Seneviratne lost the first set before fighting back and winning a 10-game pro set to finish off her opponent 2-6, 7-5, 10-7. Megan Galle and Sarah Wilder gave DePauw their lone doubles win 8-6.

The other two doubles matches were just as close with No. 1 doubles (Maddie Lee/Gretchen Wilder) falling 8-5, and No. 2 doubles (Seneviratne/Meredith Breda) losing 9-7.

In singles play, Lee lost to the fourth-ranked Rebecca Ho 6-3, 6-3. Gretchen Wilder lost at the No. 2 flight 6-4, 6-2, and Ali Bush could not win a final 10-game pro set 4-6, 6-3, 10-4.

Colleen Morris lost in straight sets 6-4, 6-2. Lastly, Galle fell at the No. 6 flight 6-3, 6-2.

DePauw is now 5-4, while WashU improves to .500 at 6-6.

The women head out west Tuesday to face Westmont and then Gustavus Adolphus on Wednesday.
