Tigers Escape with 6-3 Win Over Oberlin

Greencastle, Ind. – No. 25 DePauw improved to 4-2 overall with a 6-3 win over Oberlin on Sunday.

The Tigers took an early 2-1 lead after doubles play and won the first three singles matches for a 5-1 lead, which was enough to take the match. Oberlin then won two of the last three matches.

Oberlin took the first doubles win at No. 1 before DePauw went ahead for good. At No. 2 doubles, Megan Galle and Sarah Wilder won 8-3, and at No. 3 doubles Gretchen Wilder and Ali Bush won 8-6.

Alyssa Seneviratne took the first singles win for DePauw in the No. 6 flight 7-5, 6-1. She was followed by Ali Bush at No. 2, who won 6-4, 6-3, and then Megan Galle at No. 4, who closed her match by winning a second set tiebreaker 6-3, 7-6 (7-2).

DePauw then took a couple losses at No. 1 and No. 5. Gretchen Wilder fell 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 1 flight, while Meredith Breda lost 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5.

Colleen Morris wrapped up the match with a three set victory 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.

The Tigers are back in action March 9 when they host Franklin.
