Greencastle, Ind. -- The DePauw women's tennis team lost 8-1 to Chicago on Sunday in a battle of top 25 teams.
Chicago took an early 1-0 lead at No. 3 doubles, 8-3, but DePauw evened it up at No. 2 as Alyssa Seneviratne and Meredith Breda defeated Tiffany Chen and Alyssa Rudin 8-6. Breda had a backhand winner at the net to close the game.
In singles, the first four flights lost in straight sets. Lee fell 7-5, 6-3; Wilder fell 6-1, 6-3; Ali Bush lost 6-4, 6-3, and Seneviratne lost 6-1, 6-1.
Both Colleen Morris and Megan Galle - in the five and six flights, respectively - pushed their opponents to three sets but each come out on the losing end. Morris lost 6-3, 3-6, 6-2, while Galle fell 4-6, 6-3, 7-5.
Chicago improved to 5-0 with the win. DePauw dropped to 1-1. The women travel to Indianapolis on Tuesday.
