DePauw junior Angela Newlon (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon Twp.) set a pair of pool records on Saturday in a home double-dual meet with Calvin and Chicago to be named the NCAC Women's Swimmer of the Week.
Newlon set the natatorium benchmarks in the 500 free (4:59.71) and 1,000 free (10:08.82). Her time in the 1,000 free was the fastest time logged by a Division III student-athlete in the event this season as it eclipsed her own school and pool record by nearly 12 seconds.
Newlon was also a part of the 400 free relay team that placed second in a time of 3:37.90.
The DePauw women's swimming and diving team picked up their lone victory of the day with a 141-101 triumph over 23rd-ranked Calvin, while falling to eighth-ranked Chicago 162-80.
The Tigers return to action Feb. 10-13 for the NCAC Championships at Denison University.
