Yeowomen Spoil Tigers' Home Finale

Greencastle, Ind. -- The DePauw women's soccer team wrapped up its season on Saturday with a 3-1 loss to Oberlin.

Gwennie Gardner's speed did the Tigers in, scoring the final two goals on breakaway opportunities. She broke a 1-1 tie in the first half at 28:56 and gave Oberlin the insurance they needed in the 83rd minute for her 20th and 21st goals on the season.

DePauw held the advantage early thanks to Bridget Brendza's goal in the 14th minute. Kathryn Ruark was credited with the assist after crossing the ball far from the right side of the field.

However, Oberlin tied it in the 20th minute when Lucy Fredall's shot hit the bottom of the crossbar and bounced in. Maddi Kimball assisted and later assisted on Gardner's first goal.

DePauw controlled the ball offensively for the majority of the game, outshooting the Yeowomen 17-7 and taking the corner kick advantage 8-2. However, they had just three shots on goal.

Goalkeeper Natalie Sheeks made one save while falling to 3-5 overall.

Oberlin improved to 9-4-4 overall and 2-3-3 in the NCAC. DePauw finishes the year at 4-12 and 3-5 in the NCAC.
