Tigers Shutout Oberlin 4-0 to Open NCAC Play

The DePauw women's soccer team kicked off North Coast Athletic Conference play with a 4-0 shutout against Oberlin on Saturday.

The offense was spread out with Kathryn Ruark (1:55), Shaili Kumar (23:05), Bailey Ehrens (33:45) and Bridget Kirby (74:40) all tallying a goal. It was Ruark's and Kumar's fifth of the season, and Ehrens's and Kirby's second goals on the year.

Ruark's early goal put DePauw ahead for good just minutes into the game before they were able lead 3-0 at halftime. Bridget Brendza recorded assists on the first two goals, and Kumar assisted on the third.

Riley Riordan and Natalie Sheeks combined for the shutout. Riordan played 84:30 and recorded five saves while Sheeks finished out the final 5:30.

DePauw outshot Oberlin 18-7 and won the corner advantage 7-2.

DePauw moves to 5-2-1 overall and 1-0 in the NCAC. Oberlin drops to 5-3 overall and 0-1 in conference.

The Tigers return to action Tuesday when they host Thomas More.
