St. Petersburg, Fla. - DePauw's Emily Budde scored 29 as the Tigers moved to 10-1 on the season with a 62-44 win over Oneonta in the D3 St. Pete Classic. The Red Dragons dropped to 8-3.
The Tigers, ranked 12th in the latest coaches' poll and 13th by D3hoops.com, scored the game's first five points and held a 12-6 lead after the first quarter. Oneonta grabbed a 17-14 advantage early in the second, but DePauw responded with seven straight in a 1:37 stretch to take a 21-17 lead. The Red Dragons countered with a 5-0 run to regain the lead before the Tigers closed the half with five straight for a 27-22 lead.
Oneonta tied the contest at 27-27 early in the third, but DePauw scored the next four and grabbed the lead for good. The Tigers led 45-36 after three and opened the fourth with five straight to start a 13-2 stretch that expanded the margin to 20.
Budde's 29 led all scorers as she hit 13 of 20 from the field. Sydney Kopp followed with 12 and Maya Howard added 10 along with five assists. Leanne Corso and Alexa Amalbert each scored 11 for the Red Dragons.
Melinda Franke grabbed nine rebounds as the Tigers held a 47-29 edge on the boards. Five of Franke's rebounds came on the offensive glass as the Tigers snared 20 and held a 17-3 lead in second-chance points. Corso paced Oneonta with seven rebounds.
DePauw shot 37.9 percent from the floor to Oneonta's 34.0 percent.
